Air Quality Professionals Explain the Link Between Indoor Air Pollution and Migraines
Camfil air quality professionals discuss the impact of indoor air pollution on migraine disorder and what can be done to mitigate its effects.
New research has found that certain air pollutants trigger and worsen migraines, a health condition that can be debilitating for sufferers. In a new resource, air quality professionals discuss the impact of indoor air pollution on migraine disorder and what can be done to mitigate its effects.
“Of the pollutants that researchers have linked to migraines, nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter have the largest and most statistically significant effects,” says Mark Davidson, Manager of Marketing and Technical Materials at global air filter engineering and manufacturing company Camfil. “Scientists posit that because PM2.5 activates the sympathetic nervous system, which regulates the heart, pollution exposure can trigger alterations in blood flow to the brain that lead to migraines.”
The resource covers the following topics:
What are the symptoms of migraines?
What can trigger migraines?
How can air pollution affect migraine severity and frequency?
What are the best air filters and purifiers for migraine sufferers?
